Samsung One UI 7.0 Emoji Changelog

Samsung's latest version of its One UI 7.0 introduces support for Emoji 16.0 within Samsung's own native emoji design set.

After a somewhat shaky start, the global rollout of Samsung's One UI 7.0 is nearing its conclusion. This update introduces support for eight new emoji designs and revises the design of another previously-released flag emoji.

The eight new emojis found within One UI 7.0 are as follows:

All of these additions are from Unicode’s Emoji 16.0 recommendations, which were approved in September 2024. These emoji designs were first made available with the initial version of One UI 7.0, released for the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025.

The version of One UI 7.0 that has been rolled out for additional devices since April 2025 is an updated version of the UI.

Additionally, this updated version of One UI 7.0 that has been rolling out globally also modified the design of the 🇸🇾 Flag: Syria emoji to the nation's new de facto flag.

Samsung joins Apple and WhatsApp in making this change following the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024.

Note that upon its initial launch for S25 devices, the 🇸🇾 Flag: Syria emoji had not been updated. However, the design was updated within the version of the One UI 7.0 that is rolling out across additional devices.

🤔 I had these already?

Although One UI 7.0 marks the first time these eight new emojis appear in Samsung’s native emoji design set, many users likely encountered them earlier, especially through apps like Gboard.

These emojis were, however, previously displayed in Google’s Noto Color Emoji font.

This early access was made possible by a 2021 update to Google’s AppCompat library. It allows apps using the latest compatibility libraries to display newer emojis using Google’s font, even if the device's native emoji set hasn’t yet been updated.

As a result, apps like Gboard and X could show the new emojis on Samsung devices still running older One UI versions.
